IPOs from BRICs
According to recent data from Thomson Reuters, Jason Konior’s New York firm Absolute Fund Advisors, has its investment offerings pointed in the right direction. Konior and others have been focusing much of their attention on IPO’s from BRICs including Brazil, India and China.
Last year, IPOs from these locations raised a total of $63 bn. This accounted for more than 90% of emerging market offerings last year. The world’s largest IPO last year, in 2009, was from the Brazilian subsidiary of Banco Santander.
So far this year, January was a record month for BRIC economy issues. IPO’s in Brazil, India and China accounted for 76% of global activity.
